April Cummings-Rooks is a singer, songwriter, performer and author. She has been the opening act for artists such as Shawn Mullins and other Nashville songwriters Teddy Gentry, Rhett Akins, and Buddy Buie of Atlanta Rhythm Section. April begin leading worship and singing at local churches at 15 and later studied Music Education while in college. During college, April began blending her love of poetry and written word with music.
She recorded her debut album, Just A Little Country In 2005 and it was nominated for #1 Album of the year by Atlantacountrymusic.com. For You Acoustic Sessions is her second album release and a tribute to pure music, real songwriting and her faith leading her through life's challenges. April’s latest single, Sweet Magnolia has an Americana edge and prelude to her EP, Sojourner to be released September 2019.
April has a servant’s heart and as a community leader she has a passion for supporting the underprivileged, elderly, outcasts and foster children. In 2018, April founded Amped Kids Foundation to provide foster children in Georgia with private music lessons and other music programs to empower foster children for a brighter future. Amped Kids invests in our foster kids and youth by growing their talents, building character, teaching valuable life skills and success principles and providing mentoring.
April shares her passion to bring more love into the world in her book, Only Love Can Do That to be released Fall of 2019. A portion of the proceeds of this book will benefit the Amped Kids Foundation and bring more love and music into the lives of foster children across Georgia.
